It is with pleasure that I welcome you to the School Chaplains’ Association (SCA) website! I hope this message finds you and those you love and care for safe and well.
The SCA is a voluntary organisation that offers assistance in supporting and resourcing chaplains all over Ireland as they carry out their ministry in post-primary schools. The role of the school chaplain cannot be underestimated in the modern Irish context as the chaplain is likely to be the only regular contact a teenager has with the church in their everyday lives.
For our members, one of the most important professional and spiritual supports the SCA offers is our annual October conference. In the Conference section, you’ll find details of upcoming conference schedule and venue and other online gatherings. The News & Events section gives insights into previous gatherings. Here too is a collection of your images and reflections posted on SCA social media accounts. The website is also home to the Members Area bank of resources that are updated annually.
If you are less familiar with the role of the chaplain and the SCA, you are more than welcome to begin your journey here. As you navigate this site you will learn all about the work and mission of the SCA. You will discover practical aspects of school chaplaincy, the necessary qualifications to become a chaplain, how to join the association as well as the historical pathway that led to the formation of the SCA. In addition to our social media accounts, this is also where you will find advertisements of upcoming events. To learn more about us we are easily accessible at firstname.lastname@example.org and one our Executive team will be in touch.
Inspired by the scripture passage “to do justice, to love kindly and walk humbly”, I, in my role as Chairperson, together with a strong Executive team, am committed to working on your behalf by continuing to strengthen links and lines of communication for the future of our association. I feel both honoured and humbled to be trusted with the task and I thank each of the Executive and SCA members for their support. I wish to thank JDK Design, members of the Executive and all who shared resources for our website appearance and structure.
Thank you for spending time here. I hope you enjoy and benefit from this space. I pray you take with you the blessings of this Benedictine prayer:
May the strength of God sustain us; may the power of God preserve us; may the hands of God protect us; may the way of God direct us; may the love of God go with us this day (night) and forever. Amen.
The Lord bless us and keep us, and all in our care.
Chairperson, SCA Executive Committee
